HAZENDAL COMMUNITY PROJECTS
HAZENDAL VILLAGE
One of Hazendal's first community development projects started in 1994, when a farmer's village was created with housing facilities for the workers and their families. Each of the eleven houses was fully equipped with electricity, warm running water, toilets and bathrooms. The housing project was completed in 1998 and a permanent social worker was taken on board as part of the Hazendal team to take care of all the personal, financial, educational and health matters of the farmers' community. By giving as many workers as possible a warm and safe place to call home, they are able to care for their families and make a start at bettering their lives and the lives of their children.
HAZENDAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

As part of their community work, Hazendal has also not forgotten the younger children and has established a fund which is sponsoring a trained teacher to run wonderful arts and music community projects. This teacher is also available to support the older children during their school years, ensuring that they complete their schooling successfully and have a chance at a brighter future. Community development programmes are also offered to educate each person about alcohol and drug abuse as well as HIV/Aids. This vital education, which is offered in conjunction with the University of Stellenbosch, gives each and every Hazendal worker the tools to help themselves and ultimately achieve a better life.
Hazendal is always looking for new and exciting community projects. Their latest community work involves a weekly farmer's market, which is run by the workers and sells genuine organic produce. The Hazendal team is always happy to collaborate and are open to any of your suggestions. Should you wish to help or partner up with this wine estate, please contact the team today.
