A visit to the Marvol Museum provides visitors with a fascinating insight into Russian art and culture and showcases a rare collection of realist paintings, religious icons and Fabergé eggs.

A RARE FABERGé COLLECTION

The priceless Fabergé eggs are a particularly special feature of the museum. Originally painstakingly hand-crafted by Carl Fabergé, each egg was gifted to a Tsar as an imperial Easter egg. This tradition has been kept alive through the years and a specially designed Russian Fabergé Egg which was ordered and directed by Dr Voloshin was presented to legendary leader Nelson Mandela in 1997 - the dedication it takes to creating such an impressive artefact was meant as a testament to his own dedication to South Africa. The egg was then auctioned off to raise funds for the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund, a cause close to both the great leader and Dr Voloshin's hearts.

SOUTH AFRICAN ART

The Marvol Museum also offers young South African artists an opportunity to display their work. A unique, recent exhibition called "Flashing the Jewels" allowed Hazendal to combine two causes: supporting upcoming artists, as well as contributing towards a social cause.
