One of the many reasons why wine tasting is so popular in South Africa has to do with the spectacular venues and beautiful weather. Many farms along the Stellenbosch wine route are backed by picturesque mountains, beautiful old buildings and established gardens, making the ideal venue for picnics.

Hazendal Wine Estate is within an easy drive of Cape Town and Stellenbosch and situated along a stretch/part of the wine route that is particularly beautiful. The scenic grounds are ideal for a wine picnic and some fresh air away from the city. Sitting on the rolling lawn, kids can play in the playground while parents can enjoy some of Hazendal's finest wines.

PICNIC PACKAGES AVAILABLE AT HAZENDAL

As with most wine venues for picnics along the Stellenbosch wine route, picnics are available, fully prepared, from Hazendal's world class Hermitage restaurant. The incredible cuisine of this restaurant is adapted perfectly for a wine picnic while still keeping the rich mix of flavours, cultures and dishes that the restaurant is famous for.

There is a lot to do whilst enjoying a picnic at this wine venue, including the newly opened Plaasteater situated on the grounds. Open from 14:00 on a Sunday, guests can enjoy amazing live performances from South Africa's up and coming artists along with a delectable picnic and some exquisite wines.

PICNIC PRICES

The picnic costs R130 per adult and R35 per child. Child-friendly food is already offered in the kiddie basket, but can also be made to request. Unfortunately, no private picnics are allowed on the estate. Please book in advance for your picnic baskets to avoid dissappointment.
