DESIGN A WINELANDS TOUR

Hazendal Wine Estate is committed to giving each individual guest the best service and experience. There is no set Hazendal tour - each one is tailored to each individual person or group's wants, needs and available time. Whether a group simply wants to sample Hazendal's white and red wines, or would like to learn more about this Cape Winelands estate's fascinating history, a Hazendal wine tour is guaranteed to not only meet, but exceed all expectations.
WHAT TO EXPECT ON THIS CAPE WINELANDS TOUR
While Hazendal wine tours are flexible to meet any needs and requests, there are some general activities that guests can choose to participate in. A Hazendal themed Cape Winelands tour could see you embarking on a comprehensive tour of the estate or, if you'd prefer, a leisurely stroll around the picturesque gardens. The ancient and original oxen kraal, the slave lodge, the old manor house and the first cellar walls are all still standing and have fascinating stories to tell and an intricate wine history.
Your Hazendal tour can then move to the wine tasting area which also features Dr Mark Voloshin's own private vodka collection. His collection showcases some very rare and spectacular bottle designs. For instance, one bottle is a special design by a Vodka Manufacturer who designed only two magnum vodka bottles - one of which was given as a present to Russia's former President, Boris Yelzin and the other as a gift to Dr Mark Voloshin for his 50th Birthday.
Guests can then enter the cellar itself to learn about the entire winemaking process from grape crushing and making the juice to the fermentation phase, winemaking style and barrel maturation. Some time can then be spent in the Marvol Museum, which features eclectic pieces of Russian and South African art and Dr Voloshin's Private Russian Art Collection, adding something truly unique and special to this Cape Winelands tour. It is then time to sample some of Hazendal's finest wines, from a smooth Shiraz to some of their renowned limited releases.
THE PRACTICALITIES
To get the most out of a Hazendal South African wine tour, pre-booking, while not essential, is advised. With a little notice guests can also be taken to the vineyards and have their choice of snacks served during the wine tasting. Guests can end off this winelands tour with lunch at the Hermitage Restaurant and experience a fusion of Russian and Cape cuisine that can't be found elsewhere. The wine tasting itself can also be conducted while dining, for those guests who prefer the warmth and beauty of the restaurant.
